In 2020 I had the opportunity to try for the first time the elimination diet as a practical part during my certification as a Health Coach in Functional Medicine, which without having proposed it, helped me to identify the cause of a discomfort with which I was always left after eating, managing to free myself from the "digestive pill" of which I had already become dependent. The cause: corn and wheat. After that experience lived in my own flesh, as in that of my youngest son Alejandro, whom I have helped to regulate his digestive system more and more, overcoming a severe eczema on his little face became the first step to explore what is happening to the organism and how to proceed proactively, looking for the root cause.
The most common symptoms that could benefit from an elimination diet are:
Fatigue
Headaches or migraines
Joint pain
Difficulty concentrating
Rash, rashes and skin irritation
Stomach pain
Reflux
Abdominal distention
Constipation
Diarrhea
Unexplained weight gain or loss
Anxiety, depression or other mood problems
ADHD and behavioral problems in children
What is an elimination diet?
An elimination diet is a temporary process in which certain foods or food groups are eliminated from the diet for at least 21 days whose main objective is to identify possible foods or ingredients that may be causing adverse symptoms or health problems in a person.
The elimination diet has two phases:
Elimination Phase: During the elimination phase, you will eliminate all toxic and inflammatory foods, common causes of food sensitivities and any foods that you suspect your body does not tolerate well. If in doubt, eliminate it and see if you feel better.
Reintroduction Phase: The reintroduction phase is a very specific process where you will reintroduce foods very slowly, one food every 3 days and consume it 3 times a day, while paying attention to your symptoms to identify your own food triggers.
Many people are intolerant to certain foods and don't even know it.
Embarking on an elimination diet is an educational and enriching process. You will be able to take control of your health and make the changes your body is asking for, managing to minimize and/or put an end to the uncomfortable daily symptoms and finally recover your well-being.
Benefits of the elimination diet:
